Local Community Says Thanks To Roger Smith (7th May)

  • TAAG Arts & Community Centre 4 Northumberland Pl Teignmouth, England, TQ14 United Kingdom (map)

The local community came together at TAAG on Sunday 7th May to say thanks to Roger Smith, who has been at the heart of the TAAG project from the beginning and has also had key roles with the Teignmouth Players and at Teignmouth Pavilions.

The Mayor, Councillor Iain Palmer, presented Roger with a Community Award to mark his contribution, and Roger & his wife Mary were presented with gifts including a cash collection and pictures of Teignmouth painted by local artist Emma Appels-Riley.

Roger and Mary would like to thank everybody:

“Mary & I would like to say a huge Thank You to everyone who came to our farewell gathering at TAAG last weekend. It was really lovely to see so many people there and we are grateful to everyone for taking the time to bid Mary and me farewell and wish us well for the future.

When the date was agreed we thought that we were probably moving away on May 10th but, as frequently happens with property sales, the date has slipped and we may well be around until the end of the month.

It was also a surprise to hear that there was a collection towards a farewell gift for us and we are really delighted with that and will make sure we get something to remember everyone by. Thank you for your generosity.

We have made some lovely friendships over the years at the Carlton, the Ice Factory, Pavilions and TAAG and thank you all for everything you have done while we have been involved. We will miss you all but will at times keep you informed of what we are doing and we are sure we will see you again in the future when we venture back.

THANK YOU

Roger & Mary”
